It’s called 엣흠 (At Home). Trying to find the meeting place for tomorrow’s trip to Mokpo, I saw this cute little place. The first thing that caught me off guard was that it was surrounded by homes, yet reminded me of the many coffee places downtown. 엣흠 looked quiet and welcoming. I walked past.
On my way back (having not found this meeting place) I go inside. I missed Christmas at home more than I thought when I saw the singing-mechanical Santa Claus from the window. I was so excited. Also, when the woman gave me the menu, I was even more pumped. They had BACON burgers!! Bacon, in fact, was something I missed when I was vegetarian. Now that I’m a meat eater again, I was ever so happy to try bacon.
While waiting, I read the book “The Black Ice” by Michael Connelly, it’s funny because the date the story begins is on Christmas day in L.A. Random note: I keep thinking it’d be great if they made Law and Order: SVU into a movie and involved the other Law and Orders too–they’re be action anda psychological thriller all in one…
Back to the burger: IT WAS DELICOUS! The meat tasted different. It all had a different taste. For some reason I kept thinking this might be the healthiest burger I’ve ever had. Perhaps beef is supposed to taste like this without all the antibiotics and hormones.
I tried picking up the burger, all the burger tumbled out. It was the tenderest! So much so that I cut it in half. I had most of the burger on the plate which left me with nothing but bun, tomato, egg, lettuce and sauce.
But I loved every bite, along with the smallest sized ketchup I’ve ever seen, pickles, and fries. SO full at the end. But definitely would go again with other people. Great for a small get together or lunch/dinner by yourself, even a date.
Price: good for a bite once a week
